Happy Hexagons

There is something quite lovely about a hexie, they are one of natures best inventions, I love how they fit so neatly together.

On the workshop you will be shown step by step how to make 3 different hexagon patterns, I particularly love the african flower hexagon in the middle of the picture.

I made this lovely bath mat, in the lovely Drops Paris Aran weight cotton.

Pattern Cutting Course - Learn to make your own patterns that fit you perfectly - Saturday 24th February

Fed up with clothes that don’t fit?

Can't find clothes that you like ?

Then this is the course for you, we introduce you to drafting patterns from your own measurements.

Suitable for people with some knowledge of sewing and garment construction. You will possibly have been on one or more of our dressmaking courses, and are ready to take your dressmaking skills to the next level.

You will learn how and where to take accurate measurements from on your body and how to use these to draft a close fitting sleeveless bodice block.

This is the basis for fitted tops and the bodices of dresses. Once the block is drafted you will be shown how to: manipulate darts, add style lines and fullness (eg pleats and gathers), seam allowances and hems, in order to design your own top.

You will be given detailed written instructions to take away with you so you can create new blocks for other people.

If there is time on the course we hope to show how you can add a skirt to your bodice thus creating a fitted dress block, but this really depends on how we get on.

There will be no sewing on this course. All equipment and paper will be provided, but you may wish to bring along a notebook and pen.

Date: Saturday 24th February

Venue: Beckenham Methodist Church, Bevington Rd, Beckenham
