Orange is the new black
You may have worked it out by now and I have probably mentioned it loads that orange is my fave colour of all time - I just love it in all it's tones.
So nice then, that a major part of my crafting recently has been able to focus on all things orange mainly because as part of our refurb at home we have chosen orange as the accent colour for our lounge.
I love the 1970' vibe about it, and who would have thought that we would look back on the 1970's as a cool decade, glam rock and all that - I'm showing my age now.
Sticking with the orange and 1970's design theme, I decided to have an old victorian chair recovered to give it a new lease of life, so it is now orange velvet and looking very gorgeous
My photo doesn't really capture the chair in all it's vibrancy, it is a bit bright, but I am quite a lot in love with it, I just walk into the lounge and it makes me smile.
The guy who covered it has a shop a few doors down from me, and is so helpful, he has done an amazing job, a massive shout out for 'Lee Phillipe Upholsterers' in Beckenham Lane Shortlands.
If the chair is the lead singer, here's the backing vocals, welcome to the Capri Cushion, as in Ford Capri - the iconic 1970's ride, I am lot in love with this also, another LW pattern for you to make
I used a self covering button for the middle and just crochet'd over it, so simple, so retro !
On my recent hols, my mum taught me to cable knit, not bad for a first attempt, I think Sandra is pretty safe in her role at LW though.
Finally, the supporting act, a 1970's style console table
I found this on Etsy, we sell our dressmaking patterns on there so I'm always on there looking at yummy stuff. The company 'VintageHouseCoruna' is based in Spain and the name of the paint colour on the table is Barcelona, how very apt. Another massive thanks to them for their great customer service and for designing such a cool table.
I think we are ready to Rock n Roll.
Have a great weekend everyone, we are off camping, poss. the last one of the season.
